If serving is beneath you,
leadership is beyond you.
In 2001, I moved to Minnesota from the Hawkeye State to pursue a teaching license through Metropolitan State University's fledgling Urban Teacher Education Program. In 2005, following a year-long deployment to Iraq, I received my teaching degree and 5-12 Social Studies license.
I taught in Minneapolis and St. Paul before again being deployed with the Army Reserve, this time to Afghanistan. I then found a home at Willow River Area Schools where I taught High School Social Studies until the fall of 2015. I had the unique opportunity to serve as K-12 Dean of Students at Willow River until the end of the 2015-2016 school year and was subsequently hired as the High School (7-12) Principal. I look forward to applying my newfound education leadership skills in my current role as High School Principal, here at Willow River, for many years to come. |
